Araceli Martinez Ortiz PhD
As a principal investigator for EPDC, she leads the organization as a STEM education content expert and researcher. EPDC is a national STEM engagement and educator professional development organization designed to represent NASA and serve STEM educators and their students across the country. The EPDC mission is to guide and support a broad group of educators to utilize the best of NASA’s professional learning resources integrated with culturally relevant STEM pedagogies to serve diverse student audiences by inspiring and motivating them to pursue STEM fields of study, careers, and opportunities with NASA: www.txstate-epdc.net
Araceli Martinez Ortiz, PhD, is Principal Investigator of the research initiative called NASA STEM Engagement and Educator Professional Development Collaborative (EPDC). She is also the executive director and research associate professor of the LBJ Institute for STEM Education and Research at Texas State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, master’s degrees in Engineering Management and Education and a PhD in Engineering Education. She is an experienced teacher and administrator with particular experience as a STEM coordinator teacher in Massachusetts and Texas. Now, as a university professor, she teaches engineering research methods courses in the Department of Engineering Technology and instructional methodology courses in science and mathematics education in the College of Education.
